Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is Malaysia's 17th public institution of higher learning. The university is one of only four technical universities in Malaysia.

UniMAP’s raison d’etre was to produce highly-skilled engineers to fulfil and support Malaysia’s Industrial Blueprint (Pelan Induk Perindustrian Negara). Over the years, they have remained true to this mission, aiming to produce exemplary individuals who will contribute to the Nation’s development and industry competitiveness agenda.

They take pride in UniMAP being a leading technical university in the region, enhanced by its active engagement with leading industries in the region and globally. Their niche areas are Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technology, Science & relevant areas, with emphasis on electronics. Their focus on TVET means that they are able to offer students with a range of programmes highly relevant to industry, including that of soft-TVET.
